The Ogre municipality has adopted binding regulations providing financial support to teachers for both commuting costs and housing rent.

Commuting cost compensation

Under the new rules, teachers will receive reimbursement covering 50% of their actual transport costs, up to a maximum of 70 euros per month. The support applies to one round trip per working day between the teacher's home and their educational institution. Eligibility requires that the one-way distance between home and workplace exceeds a threshold of 15 to 30 kilometers, with the exact figure varying depending on the type of educational institution and subject area.

Notably, the support is not limited to public transport users. If public transport does not operate on a given route, or its schedule does not align with the teacher's working hours, the municipality will also cover fuel or other energy costs for a personal vehicle.

Rental cost support

A second form of assistance is aimed at teachers who rent housing. The municipality will cover the actual rent amount, up to a cap of 230 euros per month. This rental compensation will be available for a limited period of no more than three years.

The binding regulations specify that the transport compensation scheme will come into force on February 1, 2027, while the rental support will begin under the terms set out in the same regulations. The measure is intended to ease commuting and housing challenges for teachers, particularly those working farther from their place of residence.
