Ogre United earned their second win in the Latvian Virslīga on Friday, a dramatic 3-2 home victory over Tukums 2000 in matchday 20.

The hosts took the lead within the first minute when Kristers Čudars headed in from Mārtiņš Lormanis’ cross. Tukums responded swiftly: Ruslans Deružinskis equalized in the 20th minute after a shot by Maksims Derkačs deflected to him, and then put the visitors ahead in the 31st minute, finishing a quick attack set up by Kaspars Anmanis to make it 2-1.

Ogre pushed for an equalizer in the second half. Substitute Felipe Mačado levelled the score in the 77th minute, collecting a long ball and scoring from the centre of the box despite four defenders around him. Deep into stoppage time, Rūdolfs Reingolcs fouled Džonsons Kabagambi in the box, conceding a penalty. Čudars stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner as goalkeeper Ivan Baturin dived the other way, sealing the 3-2 win.

It was Ogre’s second win in three matches, following a 6-0 thrashing by RFS. Tukums had lost 4-1 to Jelgava in their previous fixture. The teams’ first meeting this season ended 1-1, while Tukums won 6-1 in May.

In other matches on Thursday, Grobiņa drew 0-0 with Auda, Daugavpils also drew 0-0 with Riga, and Jelgava thrashed Super Nova 5-1. Riga lead the standings with 49 points from 20 games, RFS have 36 from 19, while Ogre United are bottom with 10 points. The league runs in four rounds (36 matchdays) until 8 November; Riga are the defending champions.
