Oilers cut both Latvian players from training camp
The Edmonton Oilers have cut both Latvian players, Frederiks Berzkalns and Rodrigo Tralmaks, from training camp, with plans to send them to lower-tier leagues.
The Edmonton Oilers announced that both Latvian players on their roster, Frederiks Berzkalns and Rodrigo Tralmaks, have been cut from training camp. The team released a total of 15 players in this round of cuts.
Berzkalns will be sent to the USHL club Muskegon Lumberjacks. He was selected by the Oilers in this year's draft with the 58th overall pick.
Tralmaks was placed on waivers, but the club clarified that this was done with the intent of assigning him to the AHL team, the Bakersfield Condors. Tralmaks had joined the Oilers on a two-way contract.
Ice time in preseason games
Both players logged similar ice time in a recent preseason game. Tralmaks played 11 minutes and 36 seconds, including about two and a half minutes on the power play. Berzkalns received 11 minutes and 52 seconds of playing time.
The Oilers will play their final preseason game before the regular season begins in the early hours of Sunday, at 4:00 a.m. Latvian time, against the Calgary Flames.
