Oilers forward Lazar moves to Swiss league

Canadian forward Lazar, who spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers, has left the NHL for Switzerland's top league. The move follows a similar transfer by veteran forward Jeff Skinner earlier this summer.

NHL career

Last season, Lazar played 45 regular-season games for the Edmonton Oilers, recording four goals and two assists.

The Canadian entered the NHL after being picked 17th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2013 draft. Since then he has played for Ottawa, Calgary, Buffalo, Boston, Vancouver, New Jersey and Edmonton, totaling 617 regular-season NHL appearances.

Over his career, the forward has amassed 131 points, made up of 51 goals and 80 assists.

Another departure to Switzerland

Lazar's move follows that of another experienced NHL forward - 34-year-old Canadian Jeff Skinner, who signed with EHC Biel-Bienne this summer, likewise opting to continue his career in the Swiss league.
