Car of deputy head of Olenivka penal colony blown up in occupied Donetsk
Overnight into August 29, an explosive device destroyed the car of Dmytro Neyelov, first deputy head of the Olenivka penal colony, who is suspected of torturing Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians. His current condition remains unknown.
An explosive device went off under the car of Dmytro Neyelov, the first deputy head of the so-called Olenivka penal colony, in Russian-occupied Donetsk overnight into August 29. The news outlet Censor.NET reported the incident, citing sources within intelligence services, and a source has also confirmed the information to Ukrainska Pravda.
According to preliminary, unconfirmed reports, the explosive was planted directly beneath the vehicle. It is not yet known what physical condition Neyelov is in following the blast.
Suspected of war crimes
Neyelov is linked to the torture, beatings and humiliation of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians held at the Olenivka colony in occupied territory. In spring 2026, Ukraine's Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office notified him in absentia that he is suspected of committing war crimes.
No official information has yet been released about the cause of the explosion or who may be responsible.
