Oleg Martovoy may be released early from prison
The Viru County Court will consider on June 16 the possibility of early release for Oleg Martovoy, who was sentenced to nine years for leading a criminal group and illegal alcohol trafficking.

The Viru County Court is set to review a request for the parole of Oleg Martovoy next month. According to the court, the hearing will take place on June 16. Martovoy was sentenced in 2018 to nine years in prison for creating and leading a criminal organization, as well as for large-scale illegal alcohol trafficking. The court found that the organization had been operating since at least 2016 and had a clear structure with two branches: illicit alcohol and drug trafficking. Martovoy, according to case materials, exercised overall leadership, distributed profits, and controlled the joint treasury. However, he was acquitted of several charges, including complicity in his subordinates' drug offenses and an episode of physical violence, by both the trial and appellate courts. His sentence began on March 20, 2018, the date of his arrest and detention.
