Olivia Breen, a 29-year-old track and field athlete who has won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, will serve as captain of Team Wales for the 2026 edition in Glasgow. She will lead a delegation of 115 athletes, marking her fourth appearance at the Games.

Breen claimed gold in the T38 100 meters in Birmingham 2022, following a bronze in the same event and a gold in the T38 long jump at the Gold Coast in 2018. She also has two Paralympic bronze medals: one in the 4x100m relay at London 2012 and another in the T38 long jump at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games.

"It means so much," Breen said. "I can't wait to see Team Wales do everything to make everyone in Wales proud. Wales is a big part of me and I was team captain for the athletics team but obviously being captain for the whole Wales team, it's just mind blowing."

Team Wales Chef de Mission Gethin Jones praised Breen's selection, stating: "It's not just about success, it's the way she is. She's amazing with the team, she's always got a smile on her face, she really believes in Wales and I think she's the perfect choice."

The Glasgow Games will run from 23 July to 2 August 2026. The Welsh team features 67 female and 48 male competitors across 10 sports, with ages ranging from 16 to 73.
