Ora 5 Now Available as Full Hybrid
Chinese automaker GWM is expanding the Ora 5 lineup in Europe with a full hybrid (HEV) variant. Sales in Germany will start in summer 2026, with a starting price of €28,990.
China's Great Wall Motors (GWM) continues to broaden the European range of its compact model Ora 5. Previously offered solely with a petrol engine or as a fully electric vehicle, the lineup now includes a full hybrid (HEV) version.
The hybrid powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 hp with a 190 hp electric motor, delivering a total output of 223 hp and 476 Nm of torque. This setup enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. Fuel consumption according to the WLTP cycle stands at just 5.1 L/100 km, and a full tank along with a charged battery allows a range of up to 1,000 kilometers.
The hybrid is equipped with a new two-speed DHT transmission that automatically selects from six operating modes and disconnects the electric motor at higher speeds to reduce fuel consumption on highways. The manufacturer highlights improved comfort, with nearly imperceptible transitions between the combustion engine and electric motor, along with reduced noise and vibration levels.
For comparison, the fully electric Ora 5 produces 204 hp and, with a 58.3 kWh battery, can travel up to 435 kilometers. Charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 30 minutes. The petrol version features a 160 hp turbo engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, averaging 6.9 L/100 km.
Sales of the full hybrid Ora 5 are scheduled to begin in Germany in the summer of 2026, with a starting price of €28,990.
