Orange warning issued for severe storms in southeast Latvia
Latvia's Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued an orange warning for severe thunderstorms in the southeastern part of the country, valid until 23:00. Residents are urged to seek shelter indoors and cancel outdoor events.

An orange-level warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms expected in the southeast region of Latvia on Sunday evening. The warning remains in effect until 23:00. Meteorologists forecast wind gusts of up to 20 meters per second during the storms. A cell broadcast alert has also been sent to residents.
Emergency services advise people to prepare for very strong thunderstorms and, if possible, take shelter indoors. They should follow instructions from authorities. Outdoor activities will be significantly affected, so residents are urged to consider postponing or cancelling planned outdoor events. Special caution is advised in areas particularly exposed to storms, such as forests and open terrain.
Earlier on Sunday, a yellow-level warning was issued for storms in parts of eastern Latvia. As a result, several hundred households experienced power outages, and rescue services in Latgale received numerous calls about fallen trees.
