Osaka Upsets World No. 1 Sabalenka at Wimbledon, Avenging Ostapenko's Loss
Naomi Osaka defeated top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon fourth round on Sunday, 6-2, 7-6(2), avenging Alona Ostapenko's earlier loss to Sabalenka.

Naomi Osaka secured a spot in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Sunday by defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 7-6(2). The Japanese player, currently ranked 14th, overcame the Belarusian in a match that lasted just over an hour. This victory is particularly notable as Sabalenka had won all three of their previous meetings this season, including at the French Open in the same round.
Earlier in the tournament, Sabalenka defeated Latvia's Alona Ostapenko in the third round with a score of 4-6, 4-6. Osaka's win is seen as a form of payback for Ostapenko's exit, although Osaka herself has historically struggled at Wimbledon, never having progressed beyond the third round before this year.
Osaka's next opponent in the quarterfinals will be Czech player Karolína Muchová, the ninth seed, who defeated fellow Czech Barbora Krejčíková (38th) 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 on Sunday. Also advancing to the quarterfinals was American Jessica Pegula, the fourth seed, who beat compatriot Iva Jovic (14th) 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
