Alona Ostapenko had a successful day at the Eastbourne WTA 250 tournament on Tuesday, winning both her singles and doubles matches. In doubles, playing alongside American Sofia Kenin, the Latvian-American duo, seeded third, defeated the international pair of Nadia Kichenok (Ukraine) and Makoto Ninomiya (Japan) 6-4, 6-3. In the second round, they will face either Czechs Jesika Malečková and Miriam Škohová or the Brazilian-Spanish duo Ingrid Martins and Sara Sorribes Tormo.
In singles, Ostapenko, ranked 35th in the WTA and seeded third, comfortably beat Britain's Francesca Jones (WTA 103) 6-2, 6-2. She earned 30 WTA ranking points for reaching the second round. Her next opponent will be Hungary's Panna Udvardi (WTA 71), who was leading against Anna Bondar before Bondar retired.
For her first-round doubles win, Ostapenko earned 54 ranking points. The grass-court tournament will conclude on Saturday.
