Ostapenko Falls to 31st in WTA Rankings, Semenistaja Drops to 109th

Latvia's top tennis player Alona Ostapenko has dropped two spots to 31st, while Darja Semenistaja fell from 103rd to 109th. Meanwhile, Sabine Rutlauka and Elza Tomase achieved new career highs.

Updated WTA Rankings

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has released the latest world rankings. Latvia's leading player Alona Ostapenko slipped from 29th to 31st position. The country's second racket, Darja Semenistaja, dropped from 103rd to 109th.

Following Wimbledon, minor tournaments took place. In the Athens final, former top-3 players clashed: Czech Barbora Krejčíková defeated Greek Maria Sakkari.

Performance of Latvian Players

Semenistaja lost in the first round of the WTA 125 tournament in Rome last week, widening her gap from the top 100 from 9 to 61 points.

Two Latvian players have achieved personal bests in singles rankings: Sabine Rutlauka climbed to 708th, and Elza Tomase to 731st. Tomase played in the final of a W15 event on July 12.

Next week, on July 21, Semenistaja will face 24-year-old Austrian Sinja Kraus (ranked 80th) in the first round of the WTA 250 in Hamburg. Their head-to-head record stands at 0-2 in favor of Kraus.
