Zeltina's progress

Zeltina, described as Latvia's third racket, reached the semifinal of a W35 tournament on 16 October. W35 is a lower-tier international women's event. The points earned there lifted her in the standings; her previous career-best ranking was 423rd. She now has 139 points.

Last week the Ningbo WTA 500 tournament took place in China, and was won by Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina. She leads the singles rankings with 9,501 points, followed by Aryna Sabalenka with 7,550.
