Ostapenko Slips Two Places in WTA Rankings, Semenistaja Falls to 131st
Latvia's top tennis player Jelena Ostapenko is now 34th in the latest WTA world rankings, down two places. Darja Semenistaja has dropped from 124th to 131st.

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA), the governing body of professional women's tennis, has released its updated world singles rankings. Latvia's leading player Jelena Ostapenko moved from 32nd to 34th, while the country's second-best player, Darja Semenistaja, slipped from 124th to 131st.
The changes follow the Beijing WTA 1000 tournament, one of the top-tier events on the WTA calendar. Ostapenko went out in the third round, and China's Qinwen Zheng won the title.
Ostapenko's long run in the top 100
Ostapenko has stayed continuously inside the world top 100 since 21 September 2015. The streak now stands at 577 consecutive weeks, or 11 years.
Former Latvian number one Anastasija Sevastova, who has ended her career, has seen a sharp fall as her ranking points gradually expire. She dropped from 625th to 840th.
Doubles
In the doubles season standings, Ostapenko and her Taiwanese partner Hsieh Su-wei rose from eighth to sixth. They are in contention for a place at the WTA Finals, where eight pairs will compete.

Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina leads the singles list with 9696 points, followed by Aryna Sabalenka with 7550. Ostapenko is 34th with 1527 points and Semenistaja 131st with 563. Beatrise Zeltina is 439th (137 points), Elza Tomase 693rd (57) and Sabine Rutlauka 721st (53).
