Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL) have extended their cooperation with head coach Green. The new contract runs through the end of the 2030-31 season. Agreements with several of the coach's assistants have been extended as well.
Green's time in charge
The 55-year-old coach took over the Ottawa team after the 2023-24 season. In the following two seasons he helped the club reach the Stanley Cup playoffs, the NHL's postseason tournament. In both 2025 and 2026, however, the Senators did not advance beyond the first round.
Previous experience
In the NHL, Green has previously coached the New Jersey Devils and the Vancouver Canucks. Before that he was head coach of the Utica Comets in the American Hockey League (AHL), a league of NHL farm clubs. He has also worked in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Current standing
At the start of this season, the Senators have won six of their first nine games. With 12 points, the team sits fifth in the Eastern Conference.
