Rain and localized thunderstorms expected across Latvia on Tuesday

Meteorologists warn that Latvia should brace for unsettled weather over the next 24 hours. Rain clouds are expected both overnight and during the day, with thunderstorms forecast in some areas.

Despite the stormy conditions, the sun is expected to break through at times. Thunderclouds moving in during the day could bring not only heavy rain but also strong wind gusts, with hail possible in some locations.

Wind and temperature

Winds will blow from the west. Overnight, coastal gusts may reach up to 15 meters per second, while during the day gusts across the country will generally reach 11-16 meters per second. Wind may be locally stronger beneath thunderclouds.

Overnight temperatures will drop to between +12 and +17 degrees, while daytime temperatures will stay within +17 to +22 degrees.

Conditions in Riga

The capital can expect variable cloud cover with rain, and a thunderstorm is possible during the day. Overnight, with a light southwest wind, temperatures in Riga will fall to +15 degrees. During the day the wind will shift toward west and northwest, with gusts reaching up to 16 meters per second, while temperatures in the capital will not exceed +20 degrees.
