Overwatch 2 unveils new hero D.Mon and her mech Beast
Blizzard has revealed D.Mon, Overwatch's 53rd playable hero and 15th tank, blending abilities from D.Va and Reinhardt. The character arrives August 11 with Season 4: Heroes of Busan.

Blizzard Entertainment has officially unveiled D.Mon, the newest hero joining Overwatch as the 53rd playable character and 15th tank. The character first appeared back in 2018 in an animated short as a member of D.Va's MEKA Squad, though it long remained unclear whether any of her squadmates would ever become playable.
A blend of familiar mechanics
D.Mon's kit draws from both D.Va and Reinhardt, though with its own twist. Like D.Va, she pilots a mech — this one named Beast — but cannot fly. Instead, she uses boosters with a limited fuel supply to dash horizontally while dealing ranged damage with a machine gun.
When the mech is destroyed, D.Mon ejects and survives, similar to D.Va. To re-enter the mech, she must build up an ultimate ability by dealing damage with a heavy machine gun. Unlike D.Va's mech, which drops from the sky, Beast reassembles itself around D.Mon when summoned.
The Reinhardt influence shows in Beast's shield and its main melee weapon, an energy saber that can slash enemies or knock them back with a forward thrust. That saber also powers an in-mech ultimate — a sweeping strike that grants D.Mon overhealth and increases damage taken by affected enemies, comparable to Zenyatta's Orb of Discord. Unlike D.Va's Self-Destruct, this ultimate appears to require more coordination with teammates to be effective.
According to the developers, D.Mon's design drew inspiration from the Gundam anime franchise and FromSoftware's Armored Core game series. D.Mon becomes playable on August 11, when Overwatch's new season, Heroes of Busan, launches.
