Ozlo, a sleep earbuds startup founded by former Bose engineers, has announced the release of Sleepbuds 2, the second-generation version of its original product. The new model, priced at $279 (a 12% increase over its predecessor), addresses key areas for improvement, including battery life, connectivity, and sound quality.

The Sleepbuds 2 boast a 14-hour battery life, up from roughly 10 hours in the original. The charging case now holds enough power for two to three nights of use per charge and includes a button to play a sleep sound or snooze the alarm without using a phone. Bluetooth connectivity has been improved with a redesigned antenna and extender, offering longer range and a more reliable connection, along with dedicated pairing controls for faster setup.

Audio quality is enhanced by a built-in amplifier, providing better sound masking and overall sound quality. Personalized sound tuning is new, with modes optimized for Spoken Word, Airplane mode, Focus mode, and Balanced mode. A new Sleep Shield feature blocks incoming calls, alerts, notifications, and Bluetooth audio streaming, unless the phone’s built-in sleep focus mode is already enabled.

Sleep tracking has been expanded with more detailed insights into sleep patterns. The earbuds use biometrics to monitor breathing and movement, while the case tracks room conditions such as sound levels, light, and temperature. This data helps users understand which sleep environments lead to deeper rest.

Ozlo has outlined plans to become a broader sleep data platform, using AI to interpret sleep patterns and developing an AI “sleep buddy” for conversational interactions about sleep data. To celebrate the launch, a sleep mask and travel case are included free for a limited time.

The Sleepbuds 2 ship with four pairs of silicone ear tips, a charging case, and a USB-C cable. The original device, launched in late 2024, now has over 200,000 customers. The co-founders—N.B. Patil, Brian Mulcahey, and Charlie Taylor—are Bose veterans who acquired and licensed Bose’s Sleepbuds research and IP to continue the business.
