Paēdušai Latvijai Food Drive at 53 Rimi Stores Asks Shoppers to Donate Food
The Paēdušai Latvijai food bank launches a donation drive on 17 October in 53 Rimi stores across Latvia. Shoppers can add products to their purchases for people struggling to make ends meet.

A donation drive run by the Latvian food bank Paēdušai Latvijai starts tomorrow, 17 October, in 53 stores of the Rimi retail chain across Latvia. It aims to help people who find it especially hard to make ends meet. Every customer can add extra products to their shopping and donate them to those in need.
How the drive works
The idea is simple: an ordinary purchase for one person can be the chance for another to cook a proper dinner. Examples given include a pack of buckwheat, a bottle of cooking oil or a box of tea. Shoppers can buy such items in addition to their own groceries and leave them as a donation.
The drive takes place in 53 Rimi stores in different parts of the country, so shoppers are not limited to a single city.
Explained on LSM.lv
The Russian-language programme “Обсудим вечером” (“Let’s Discuss This Evening”) on LSM.lv explains how the drive works, what is best to put into a charity bag and who will receive the help. It offers practical guidance for people who want to take part but are unsure which products to choose.
The food bank Paēdušai Latvijai encourages shoppers to think of those for whom getting by day to day is a struggle, and to help them with a small donation made while doing their regular shopping.
