Polish teenager among two drowning victims in Lithuania over the weekend
Two people drowned in Lithuania over the weekend — a 17-year-old Polish citizen in the Baltic Sea near Palanga and a man in a pond in Telšiai district. Neither could be saved.

Lithuanian authorities confirmed on Sunday that two people drowned in separate incidents over the weekend, one of them a 17-year-old Polish citizen who died in the Baltic Sea near the resort town of Palanga.
The Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call on Saturday evening reporting that someone was drowning roughly 50 metres from the shore in Palanga. Rescue crews located the person submerged in about 3 metres of water, at a distance of 50 to 70 metres from the coast. A watercraft was used to bring the body ashore, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later identified the victim as a Polish citizen born in 2009.
Second death in Telšiai district
The other drowning happened during daytime hours in the Telšiai district, where a report came in about a man drowning near a lodging facility. Firefighters found him submerged around 15 metres from shore, pulled him out of the water and handed him to paramedics, who attempted resuscitation. He could not be revived.
Police said the man was born in 1970, and his body was recovered from a pond at approximately 13:00.
Authorities have not yet released further details on the circumstances surrounding either incident.
