Pape Tjavs steps down as Senegal head coach after a disappointing World Cup campaign and the loss of the Africa Cup of Nations title.

Senegal national football team head coach Pape Tjavs has left his post after the team lost 2-3 to Belgium in extra time in the first knockout round of the World Cup. His assistant coaches have also been dismissed. The 45-year-old took over the side in 2024. Under his leadership, Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations this year, but the title was stripped in March and awarded to Morocco after a successful appeal overturned the chaotic January final. In the World Cup group stage, Senegal lost to France (1-3) and Norway (2-3), before thrashing Iraq 5-0.
