Man may have to pay €31,000 for illegally shooting a bear in Ogre region

State Police have reported on a criminal case involving the illegal shooting of a bear in the Ogre region. The incident occurred on October 31 of last year, when a three-year-old brown bear was illegally shot dead.

During the investigation, police determined that the animal was killed by a man born in 1972. He is now considered a suspect in the case.

If guilt is established, the man may be required to compensate for the damage caused, which has been assessed at €31,000. This sum reflects the losses caused to the state by the unlawful killing of a protected wild animal.

The case materials have already been forwarded to the prosecutor's office, which will decide on further steps in the criminal proceedings. State Police confirmed the progress of the investigation and the referral of the case to judicial authorities.
