Aigars Apinis, a four-time Paralympic champion in discus throw and shot put, on Wednesday released an open letter raising concerns about the state of Paralympic sport administration in Latvia.

In the letter, Apinis points to possible corrupt actions connected with the Latvian Olympic Committee's (LOK) conduct toward the Latvian Paralympic Committee (LPK). He states that the Olympic Committee has interfered in the Paralympic Committee's work.

Apinis is one of the most recognized figures in Latvian Paralympic sport, having won four Paralympic championship titles over his career in the discus and shot put events.

Further details about the specific actions Apinis considers questionable, as well as an official response from either organization, are not yet available.
