United List tops July party ratings in Latvia; ZZS falls below 5% threshold

A recent SKDS survey, reported by Latvian Public Media, found notable shifts in party support in July. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs's United List (AS) was backed by 12.2% of respondents, up from 9.8% in June, keeping it in first place. The Sovereign Power/New Latvians alliance followed closely, with support rising from 8.6% to 11.4%.

Next in the rankings were Latvia First and the Progressives, both recording slight gains. The National Alliance held steady at 5.5%, while New Unity edged up from 4.2% to 4.3%. By contrast, the Greens and Farmers' Union (ZZS) saw its rating fall from 4.4% in June to 2.9% in July. Several smaller parties, including We Change the Rules, Stability!, Latvia's Development, Harmony Centre, Rising Sun for Latvia, the New Conservative Party and the Gobzems List, trailed further behind.

According to the survey, 23.4% of respondents were still undecided, and 11.5% said they would not take part in the elections. When the results were recalculated to include only decided voters likely to cast a ballot, six parties would cross the 5% threshold: United List, Sovereign Power/New Latvians, Latvia First, the Progressives, the National Alliance and New Unity. ZZS would remain below the barrier.

The poll was conducted between July 10 and 15, asking respondents which party or alliance they would support if parliamentary elections were held the next day. The 15th Saeima elections are scheduled for early October.
