According to Opta simulations, Brazil have a 57.7% chance of winning, Morocco 18.8%, and a draw 23.5%. Switzerland are clear favorites against Qatar with a 76.0% win probability. Turkiye have a 55.3% chance against Australia, while Scotland have 59.0% against Haiti.
Off the pitch, US President Donald Trump skipped the US opener but plans to attend the final. Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the US game instead of Canada's. Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey was denied a visa by Canada and will miss his team's first match. Peruvian police conducted a drug raid dressed as World Cup mascots.
