In a dramatic World Cup 2026 match, Croatia's hopes were shattered in the dying moments when their apparent equalizer against Portugal was disallowed for offside after a VAR review. The decision sent Croatia home and secured Portugal's place in the next round.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened his account in this World Cup with a penalty goal, his first in the tournament. Portugal will now face Spain in the round of 16.

Spain put on a commanding performance, beating Austria 3-0. Austria failed to register a single shot on target.

Switzerland had a relatively comfortable evening, defeating Algeria 2-0. Algeria could not mount a comeback from two goals down.

The round of 32 is nearing its end. Next up, France will face Paraguay in the sweltering heat of Philadelphia.
