Pauls Jonass crashes in second race of British Grand Prix

Latvian motocross rider Pauls Jonass competed in the second race of the MXGP class at the 12th round of the World Championship in Great Britain on Sunday, but crashed out after starting in the top ten. Jonass finished 17th in the first race and started seventh in the second, but fell heavily on the 12th lap, lying on the track for several minutes before receiving medical assistance.

The second race was won by Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings, who beat Frenchman Romain Febvre by just over a second. Slovenian Tim Gajser completed the podium. In the overall round standings, Herlings took first place with 50 points, followed by Febvre with 42. Jonass earned four points from his 17th place in the first race, placing 21st overall.

In the overall World Championship standings after 12 rounds, Belgian Luca Coenen leads with 566 points. Herlings is second with 555, and Febvre third with 494. Jonass ranks tenth with 273 points.

In the MX2 class, Karlis Alberts Reisulis and Janis Martins Reisulis finished sixth and eighth respectively in the second race. Spanish rider Guillem Farres won the race, also taking the first race. In the round standings, Farres earned 50 points, German Simon Langenfelder second with 44. Janis Martins and Karlis Alberts Reisulis placed sixth and seventh with 29 and 28 points.

In the overall MX2 championship, Farres leads with 563 points. Janis Martins Reisulis is sixth with 434, and Karlis Alberts Reisulis eighth with 336. The season consists of 19 rounds.
