Peak Design's New Field Bracket Integrates Finder Tag Slot for Photographers

Peak Design has started selling its new Field Bracket modular camera bracket system via Kickstarter. The product is aimed at photographers and videographers who need to quickly switch between landscape and portrait orientation on a tripod or mount accessories like lights or microphones when the camera lacks dedicated mounting points.

One of the key features of the Field Bracket is an integrated slot for the Beacon Finder Tag, Peak Design's own tracker that works with both Apple Find My and Google Find Hub networks. This means it is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The tag uses a standard CR2025 battery, which Peak claims lasts up to six months, and has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The tag sits flush within the bracket's base plate.

The Field Bracket is fundamentally an L-bracket that can be expanded with optional accessories: a hand grip, a finger grip, and a cheese plate for attaching extra gear. The vertical attachment, called the Field Latch, uses a new quick-locking system that requires no tools. The cheese plate is adjustable to allow access to camera ports and cables.

The bracket is molded for specific camera models, so buyers must choose the version that fits their camera. At launch, supported models are the newest or near-newest from each camera line. Peak Design has published a compatibility list and a feedback page for users to request support for their cameras.

The Field Bracket is compatible with most ARCA-standard tripods and can be used alongside Peak Design's own capture clips and camera straps. The bracket includes dedicated slots for Peak Design straps, so users don't have to switch straps. The bracket will retail for $149.95, while a bundle with all current accessories is priced at $269.80. During the Kickstarter campaign, the bracket is available for $125 and the bundle for $199 while supplies last.
