After 20-Year Hiatus, Artist Olegs Tillbergs Returns with Solo Exhibition
Olegs Tillbergs, a key figure in 1980s-1990s Latvian art, opens his first solo exhibition in two decades, “Look Yourself in the Eye!”.

Olegs Tillbergs is renowned for his installations that challenged conventional notions of space, time, and materiality in art. His work has been the subject of a monograph by art scholar Santa Hirša, published in 2025 and awarded the Latvian Art Annual Prize in the “Research of the Year” category in 2026.
After a 20-year break, Tillbergs returns with a solo exhibition titled “Look Yourself in the Eye!”, opening on July 31. In anticipation of the exhibition, LSM culture journalist Alise Zālīte spoke with the artist. The interview explores Tillbergs’ creative journey, the role of fear, and the significance of art in contemporary society.
