Concert and the Dispute
The concert "Manai dzimtenei", part of a song festival of the same name, took place after prolonged and public disagreements between composer Raimonds Pauls and the event organizers. The program featured Pauls' most beautiful choral songs and beloved melodies, which unite multiple generations and have become part of Latvia's cultural heritage.
The dispute began when the event's original name included the maestro's name without Pauls' consent. The composer publicly distanced himself from the project and emphasized that he had not authorized the use of his name. As a result, the event name was changed, removing Pauls' name.
However, the disagreements also affected the lineup – several musicians who had planned to participate refused to perform. Nonetheless, the concert went ahead and featured Pauls' music.
