The news was reported by the DPA news agency, citing observations from its photographer who was present at the scene. The radar has been placed on a viewing platform located in the old air traffic control tower at Leipzig/Halle Airport — a spot offering a clear view over the airport grounds.
The move is aimed at improving the airport's ability to detect and identify unauthorized drone flights near its premises in time, as such incidents have recently caused security concerns at several European airports.
