One of the cultural identities of Vidzeme is the so-called Ieviņa eronikas – instruments with a rich sound that are also included in the national cultural heritage list. About 15 years ago, the tradition of playing this instrument was on the verge of extinction: only a few players remained, and most of the instruments were in poor technical condition.

Today, the situation has changed dramatically. Ieviņa eronikas are again in high regard – they are being restored, and more people, especially young people, are learning to play. This revival reflects the local community's efforts to preserve and renew this unique musical tradition.

Furthermore, a special gathering of Ieviņa eronikas players will take place very soon, bringing together both experienced and new enthusiasts. It will be an opportunity to showcase restored skills and instruments, as well as to strengthen the continuation of this tradition for future generations.
