Cooler weather to replace heat as Latvia braces for rain and thunderstorms

According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, many parts of Latvia experienced hot weather over the past days, but the warm air mass will soon be replaced by cooler conditions. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach +18...+23°C, with Monday being about one degree warmer.
Weather will largely be influenced by cyclonic activity, with only Sunday seeing a temporary rise in pressure, resulting in a dry and calm day.
On Friday, 7 August, winds will become gusty, but over the weekend they are expected to ease. From Monday, winds will pick up again. Friday will bring cloudy skies, with occasional clearing and sunny spells, as well as brief showers in places. At night, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rain locally in eastern districts. Night winds will mostly be light, but a light to moderate west or south-west wind will gradually set in from the coast and persist into the daytime. Gusty conditions are expected along the coast at night and during the day in western regions and Vidzeme. Overnight lows will be +15...+19°C, while daytime highs will reach +18...+23°C.
Over the weekend, cloud cover will vary and localised showers are likely. On Saturday, heavy downpours and thunderstorms may occur in some areas. Sunday will see an anticyclone approach Latvia, reducing the amount of precipitation. Fog may form at night in places, reducing visibility. Saturday will have a light to moderate westerly wind, while Sunday will be mostly calm. Night temperatures will drop to +13...+18°C, with a few degrees cooler possible on the night before Sunday. Daytime temperatures will stay between +18...+23°C, but on Sunday, as skies clear, some places may warm to +25°C.
Early next week, a new cyclone will approach the country, bringing rain to parts of the territory each day and gusty winds, though afternoons will remain warm and summery. By mid-week, pressure will rise and conditions are expected to become mostly dry and sunny.
