Latvia to see thunderstorms and gusty winds after heatwave
After a heatwave that brought temperatures up to +33°C, Latvia is set for a sharp weather change with thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds, with temperatures dropping to +19…+24°C.
In recent days, Latvia experienced a heatwave, with temperatures reaching +27 to +30°C in many places, and locally up to +33°C. However, the weather will change dramatically in the coming days. The heat will retreat, and temperatures will not exceed +25°C.
From mid-week, thunderclouds will appear, and locally heavy rain showers are expected. Wind will strengthen in the second half of the week, with gusts reaching 15-18 m/s on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, starting around midnight, a precipitation zone will cross the country from the west, bringing rain to many areas, with possible thunderstorms and heavy showers. Precipitation will continue over the weekend, and gusty winds will persist.
The weather will become relatively cooler, with daytime maximums mostly between +19 and +24°C. At the start of next week, many areas will not see temperatures above +20°C.
