Police complaint filed against Olympian Aparjods after nightclub-party conflict

A late-night party at the Allaži community house ended in a physical conflict involving several attendees, including Olympian Aparjods. Both sides of the dispute have since gone to the police.

According to one side's account, the conflict involved a 14-year-old teenager, his mother and stepfather, while the other side included Aparjods, a security guard and another man. The outlet reporting the story says it does not know what triggered the confrontation.

Conflicting accounts

The family, who consider themselves the injured party, say the teenager was first insulted and locked in a room, after which physical violence was directed at his stepfather. They claim it was Aparjods who started the confrontation with the teenager.

Police proceedings

The case is now being handled by the Northern Pierīga unit of the State Police's Riga regional department, which has opened two administrative offense proceedings — one over possible minor bodily harm to the man, and another over possible physical or emotional violence against a child. Because Aparjods is also a State Police employee, the man has additionally filed a complaint with the Internal Security Bureau.

A representative of the Sigulda municipality confirmed that one of the people at the party was injured, and that a wall of the community house was damaged, allegedly by the teenager. The municipality has also reported the incident to the State Police.

The outlet was unable to reach Aparjods for comment.
