After Floods in Dursupe, Water Recedes but Damage Emerges – Roads Closed, Ordnance Found
Following Monday's heavy rains, the water level in Dursupe has dropped, but rescue operations have shifted to damage assessment. Several roads remain closed, including a section of regional road P128, and an explosive ordnance was found in the floodwaters.
After the severe rainfall on Monday caused flooding in Dursupe, the water level has dropped significantly, but efforts have now turned to assessing the damage. The Talsu County municipality, following a meeting of the Civil Protection Commission, reports that several road sections remain closed.
The greatest damage was caused by the breached dam of the Dursupe mill pond, as the strong water current washed out roads and damaged surrounding infrastructure. The section of regional road P128 has been particularly hard hit, and its restoration may take longer.
During the floods, an explosive ordnance was also discovered and has been handed over to the 54th Combat Support Battalion of the National Guard. The municipality states that damage assessment is ongoing, and the exact extent of losses will be known after a detailed evaluation.
Residents are urged to observe traffic restrictions and avoid dangerous areas while the damaged infrastructure is being inspected and restoration plans are being developed.
