Damaged Liepāja Stadium After 'Prāta Vētra' Concert to Be Restored; Organizers Had Insurance

The lawn of the Daugava Stadium in Liepāja suffered damage following the 'Prāta Vētra' concert on July 20. According to a representative of the Liepāja Olympic Centre, the concert organizers had anticipated this risk and insured the lawn against potential damage before the event. An assessment of the losses is currently underway in cooperation with insurers, and the exact amount will be known after their evaluation.

The Liepāja Olympic Centre has already started necessary restoration work. In the coming days, the visual condition of the lawn will be tidied up, but complete restoration and safe sports load will require a few more weeks. Consequently, the costs covered by the insurance will allow the stadium to be made available to athletes as soon as possible.

The Daugava Stadium can accommodate approximately 4,000 spectators and meets international football standards. It serves as the primary home venue for the football club 'Liepāja', which has qualified for the second round of the UEFA Conference League. However, the upcoming match against Austria Vienna at the end of this month will be held at Sloka Stadium.
