Pakri Lighthouse Reopens After Renovation
Built in 1889, the Pakri lighthouse has been renovated and is now open to visitors again. The renovation lasted from July last year until June 16 this year.

The Pakri lighthouse, constructed in 1889, has undergone renovation and has reopened to the public. At the opening ceremony on June 16, Priit Sauk, Director General of the Transport Department, noted that the renovation began in July last year and has been successfully completed. This marks not only the end of the construction project but also the preservation of an important historical and maritime heritage for future generations. Minister of Infrastructure Kuldar Leis emphasized that safety in the Baltic Sea is especially critical given that GPS signal interference poses a real risk. He explained that over 8,000 ships pass through the lighthouse's area of operation annually, making its proper condition of great practical importance for safety. During the renovation, the lighthouse facade was updated with new plaster and paint. The metal lantern room was restored both inside and out. An additional railing was installed on the external platform for antenna mounting, the foundation was waterproofed, and the plinth, external staircase, doors, and windows were restored. The total cost of the work was nearly 400,000 euros. Information on visiting the lighthouse is available on the Transport Department's website.
