After Saeima Elections: Rinkēvičs to Nominate Kulbergs for Prime Minister
Following the 15th Saeima elections, President Edgars Rinkēvičs plans to nominate Andris Kulbergs to form a new government, with a three-party coalition expected to hold a stable majority.

After a tense pre-election campaign, Latvia's 15th Saeima elections have concluded successfully, and a relative calm has returned to the country's public life. Attention now turns to the process of forming a new government.
The New Government
President Edgars Rinkēvičs is preparing to nominate Andris Kulbergs to lead the new Cabinet of Ministers. The new coalition is expected to consist of three parties – the United List (AS), the National Alliance (NA), and New Unity (JV). Together, these parties would command 58 votes in the Saeima, forming a stable parliamentary majority.
Potential Risks
Analysts already point to a key risk for the new coalition's stability: AS itself is made up of four independent political forces with very different members of parliament. Such internal diversity could lead to a struggle for power and influence within the coalition, a pattern that has occurred before in Latvian politics.
The question of how ministerial posts will be divided among the coalition partners remains open for now, though it would be logical to expect NA to retain its current positions in government.
