After summer on crutches, Blumbergs returns for Biķernieki night rallycross
Bruno Ādams Blumbergs, the 2025 Supercar class champion in the Latvia-Lithuania rallycross championship, is returning to competition after a summer injury and will race at the season-ending night rallycross event in Biķernieki.
The Supercar class of this year's Latvia-Lithuania rallycross championship has struggled for entries — the May round had none at all, and the only time several Supercar drivers lined up together was in July in Bauska. Missing from that field was Bruno Ādams Blumbergs, who won the class championship in 2025.
It turns out Blumbergs suffered a serious injury early in the summer that left him on crutches for nearly three months. Once cleared by doctors, he focused his preparation on simulator training and completed one practice day with his blue Hyundai to reacquaint himself with the car.
Return at Biķernieki
The championship's final round will take place at the Biķernieki track under night conditions. Blumbergs admits to some nerves after nearly a year away from the Supercar seat, but says he is looking forward to an entertaining event with tight battles for the title in several classes. He notes the Supercar field this time includes strong competitors, among them two Lithuanian drivers who also raced in this year's European championship.
Asked about racing at night, Blumbergs says it demands more concentration and offers worse visibility than daytime racing, but he enjoys the experience — speed feels greater in the dark, and the sensations differ noticeably from daylight competition.
Time well used
Arnis Odiņš, head of the OC Racing team and Blumbergs' coach, says the season without a full Supercar standings was not wasted. The team used the pause to carry out numerous upgrades to the blue Hyundai that had been postponed for years, and for the first time ran extensive testing covering all of the car's setup options under different conditions. Odiņš hopes this work will help the team become even faster.
