After a Ukrainian drone strike, two Wildberries warehouses caught fire in the Moscow and Tambov regions. The fire at the warehouse in Elektrostal has not yet been extinguished. It remains unknown how many goods burned or what losses sellers will face.
Wildberries said it will take about a month to calculate the damage. Immediately after the strikes, CEO Tatyana Kim reminded sellers that under the contract terms, the company has not been obligated to compensate them for lost goods since the start of July. The marketplace is nevertheless "working on" the issue of payouts and other financial support measures.
On July 19, Wildberries and its partners announced the first such measures. The company will offer discounts on storage for the first 45 days after delivery and move goods to regional warehouses free of charge. WB Bank will give small and medium-sized businesses up to six months to defer debt repayment and access to preferential loans, and will waive fees on payments within Russia. Sberbank will offer loan restructuring and free insurance consultations.
