Insurers receive around 1,000 claims after storm, payouts could reach millions
After a storm hit Latvia over the weekend, insurers had received about 1,000 damage claims by Monday, with total compensation likely to reach millions of euros.

A storm swept across Latvia over the past weekend, causing damage to property across the country. By Monday, insurance companies had already received roughly 1,000 claims from residents and businesses reporting storm-related losses.
Janis Abasins, president of the Latvian Insurers Association, told Latvian Radio that the data on reported losses is still very preliminary, as damage assessments are ongoing. However, he said the total sum of insurance payouts will likely be counted in millions of euros.
More precise figures on the extent of the damage and the total compensation to be paid out are expected to become available later, once insurers have processed all the claims received.
