Riga municipality has confirmed that the joint concert "Hand in Hand" by projects "Mesa" and "Gacho", rescheduled to Sunday due to a storm, will proceed at the Great Bandstand in Mežaparks. However, attendees will only be allowed to reach the venue via specially designated routes.

Dangerous trees and cordoned areas

Following the storm, numerous hazardous trees have been identified across the Mežaparks area, and staff of the municipal company "Rīgas meži" have cordoned off the affected zones. The company will clear pathways and install signage marking safe routes. Security personnel will manage crowd flow during the event, and attendees are urged not to leave the designated paths or cross the barriers put in place.

Riga Mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs stressed that the city is doing everything possible to restore both private and public transport movement after the storm, and called on concertgoers to follow the safety guidance.

Transport still uncertain

Repair work continues on the overhead contact line of tram route 11, which was damaged in the storm. If the work is completed before the concert begins, trams will run as usual, including the previously planned additional services.

About the concert

The "Hand in Hand" concert at Mežaparks was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed by a day due to the forecast storm; it is now set to start at 8 p.m. The evening's special guests will be the band "Jumprava", performing their most popular songs, preceded by a set from DJ Maija Rozīte. The "Mesa" project was founded in late 2015 by Gatis Irbe, better known by his stage name "Gacho".
