Teacher in Engure Accused of 25 Sexual Offenses Against Minors
The State Police have forwarded a criminal case to the prosecutor's office against a teacher born in 1950, who is alleged to have committed 25 sexual offenses against minors in Engure.

The State Police (VP) have forwarded a criminal case to the Zemgale Regional Prosecutor's Office against a man born in 1950, accused of 25 episodes of sexual offenses against minors in Engure.
Police received information about the possible crime on November 20, 2025 – a child told his father that a school club teacher may have committed sexual acts against him. A criminal investigation was launched under Section 160(4) of the Criminal Law, and on November 22 the suspect was arrested, with detention ordered by the court. The man remains in custody.
The investigation involved 50 persons, nine of whom were granted specially protected victim status. The offenses occurred between April 2023 and November 2025. A total of 25 episodes were uncovered: 16 qualified under Section 160(4) (sexual acts involving physical contact, serious consequences, victims under 16) – punishable by 5 to 15 years' imprisonment. Five episodes qualified under Section 160(3) (sexual acts with a minor, group of persons) – punishable by 3 to 12 years. Four episodes qualified under Section 162(2) (leading a minor into debauchery without physical contact) – punishable by up to 7 years.
On July 6, the case was sent to the prosecutor's office for prosecution. The police thanked the victims' parents for their cooperation and urged parents to talk to children about safety.
