Average age of deceased in Latvia reached 75.9 years last year
According to the Central Statistical Bureau, the average age at death in Latvia increased to 75.9 years in 2025, five months more than in 2024. The total number of deaths decreased by 2.1%.

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that the average age of deceased residents in Latvia was 75.9 years in 2025. Compared to 2024, this indicator increased by five months.
The data also reveal gender differences: the average lifespan at death for men was 70.6 years, while for women it was 80.5 years. In total, 26,109 deaths were registered in Latvia last year, which is 552 or 2.1% fewer than the previous year.
These figures indicate a gradual increase in life expectancy and a decline in the overall mortality rate. The CSB continues to collect and analyze demographic data to provide a more accurate picture of public health trends.
