Body of drowned 64-year-old man found in river in Pärnu
On Monday evening, the body of a 64-year-old man was pulled from a river in Pärnu, Estonia. So far this year, 28 people have died in water-related accidents in Estonia.
On Monday evening, the body of a drowned man was recovered from a river in the Estonian city of Pärnu. According to the Rescue Board, the alarm center received a report at 18:32 that a jacket was seen floating in the Pärnu River, with plastic bags found on the riverbank. Police who arrived at the scene pulled the body of a 64-year-old man from the water.
Water-related accidents
The Rescue Board reports that 28 people have died in water-related accidents in Estonia so far this year. Such incidents most often occur when people fall into water or slip on the shore, including near bodies of water close to their homes.
Rescuers warn that people with poor physical fitness or limited mobility should be especially cautious near bodies of water with steep banks, and recommend staying as far as possible from the water's edge and the shoreline.
