Pärnu council ousts mayor, elects Isamaa's Siim Suursild as replacement
Pärnu's new ruling coalition passed a no-confidence vote against Mayor Kristel Voltenberg despite her earlier resignation announcement, then elected Isamaa's Siim Suursild as the new mayor.

The city council of Pärnu, Estonia, voted no confidence in Mayor Kristel Voltenberg at its Monday session, even though she had already announced her resignation at the start of the meeting. Of the 39 council members present, 23 backed the motion against her.
Addressing the council, Voltenberg said that although her time in office had been brief — 253 days — she had given everything she could to Pärnu and its residents during that period. She expressed a wish for more dignified conduct and a more dignified departure. Along with her resignation, she submitted an application to have her mandate as an ordinary council member restored.
Council chairman Andrei Korobeinik of the Center Party noted that the last time a Pärnu mayor faced a no-confidence vote was more than two decades ago.

At the same session, the council elected Siim Suursild of Isamaa as the new mayor. Under the coalition agreement, the mayor's post goes to Isamaa, while the Center Party retains the council chairmanship. EKRE is the coalition's third partner.
