Philips Unveils Smart Toothbrush That Shows Where You Missed While Brushing
The Philips Sonicare Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige uses third-gen AI and a touchscreen to provide real-time brushing feedback and highlight missed spots on a 12-segment mouth map.
Philips has expanded its Sonicare line of smart electric toothbrushes with the new Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, designed to take the guesswork out of oral hygiene. The brush employs a third-generation AI model to analyze brushing motions and deliver real-time feedback through a glowing ring on its handle.
The ring changes color to indicate when too much pressure is being applied, which could damage gums. Additionally, built-in pressure sensors automatically adjust the brush's intensity to protect sensitive areas. A touchscreen allows users to swipe through eight cleaning modes, including gum health, max clean, and sensitive options.
After brushing, the screen displays a mouth map divided into 12 segments. Areas that were adequately cleaned appear blue, while those needing more attention glow orange, helping users target specific spots during a second pass.
The toothbrush is expected to launch in Europe and the US this fall, with a wider global rollout in 2027. Pricing has not been announced, but previous models sell for $430, and the new version is likely to be more expensive.
