Swedish police have investigated a series of incidents at the Russian embassy in Stockholm involving drones. According to Swedish media reports, in September 2025 and November 2024, drones spilled red paint over the Russian embassy. In July 2025, a similar attack occurred over the Russian trade representation.
A police spokesperson said that incidents near embassies have become more frequent and their investigation is complex. The Swedish police recently established a new unit to investigate such incidents, but did not disclose which countries' embassies were involved.
In January 2025, a 45-year-old man was detained after driving his car into the metal gates of the Russian embassy. Russia's Foreign Ministry stated that the suspect is a Ukrainian citizen with permanent residence in Sweden, who is "well known to the embassy and local police".
