Five flights operated by different airlines in Europe received bomb threats on 3 November, Reuters reported. Some aircraft had to make unscheduled landings, while others were searched after arriving. It is not clear whether the incidents are connected.

Flights to Warsaw

Two of the incidents involved planes heading for the Polish capital, Warsaw. A flight from London operated by Poland's carrier LOT was diverted to Modlin Airport instead of Warsaw's main airport, named after Chopin, after the threat was received. An SAS plane, from the Scandinavian airline, flying from Copenhagen landed at its planned destination and was then searched. Modlin Airport suspended operations for several hours.

Other incidents

A plane run by low-cost carrier Wizz Air, flying from London to the Bulgarian capital Sofia, was forced to land in Budapest after a threat. Bulgaria's Interior Ministry said a flight from Israel made an emergency landing in Sofia following a bomb threat; the ministry did not say where that flight had been headed.

The fifth case involved a Ryanair flight, a low-cost airline, arriving from Manchester, which was searched in Murcia, Spain.

The source does not say whether any device was found in these cases or who was behind the threats.
